Practicing Vocabulary

Use these vocabulary pages to improve your SAT vocabulary. There are no direct vocabulary questions on the SAT, but the sentence completion questions, grammar questions, and many of the reading comprehension questions on the SAT indirectly test the depth of your vocabulary. The left panel consists of the various vocabulary sections that you can choose from.

As a general rule, it is not possible to increase your vocabulary in a short amount of time. If you have less than one month to prepare for the SAT, then your best bet is to just become familiar with the format of the SAT and to get as much practice as possible. If you have more than 1 month, then you are in luck, because studies have shown that you can increase your vocabulary by up to several hundred college-level words in as little as two months.

For best results, spend 20-30 minutes each day practicing vocabulary. That includes vocabulary lists, drills, and, most importantly, GAMES! Use our vocabulary games as a way to easily learn new words.
